Day 2
Poetry prompt for Day 2: 150 years ago today, abolitionist John Brown was hanged, executed on charges of treason, murder, and insurrection. He saw it as his mission in the name of God to begin a rebellion against slavery. Some people in Kansas do not know who John Brown is, even as his work started here during Bleeding Kansas. For many here, he is a historical icon. For others, he is a terrorist. Regardless, was he was an agent for the radical love of justice and change? Today’s prompt is: Who is a representative of radical love in your life? How have they changed your vision? Your heart? In what ways? Through the personal change, is there a systemic need to change too? What cultural oppression continues? What work for justice and change continues?
